2010 Mustang Front End
Ford originally planned to produce a new Mustang in the 2009 model year, since that announcement many additions to the mustang line have come about. First the amazing 2007 Shelby GT500, then the Shelby GT-H rental car, followed by its retail couterpart the Ford Shelby GT. Now a special edition Boss Mustang is slated to be released in 2008, so Ford is expecting to see good sales numbers until the end of the decade. That is when Ford plans to revamp the Mustang yet again, and take the 'futuristic-retro' styling to another level. The following is a 'spy' photograph said to be taken of ford testing of different rear end / taillight combinations- these early spy pictures are generally not representative of the actual end product (i.e. I doubt the taillights will look this different) but the general shape of the body tends to stay the same:

The chassis will remain the same for the 2010 Mustang, similar to how the 1994-1998 models shared the same core chassis as the 1999-2005s, yet they still managed to look a good amount different. A similar sort of transition is expected in the 2010 Mustang, where the 2005 sought to bring back a nostalgic look, in 2010 Ford will attempt to incorporate a futuristic look while still maintaining the classic mustang look.

The engine combination for the GT is beleived to be either a 3 or 4 valve version of the 4.6L Modular engine, with a slight increase in horsepower. With gas prices looming, Ford is also trying to increase the gas mileage in its entire fleet- this time around that will include the Mustang. Ford is expected to implement a displacement on demand system, (similar to that which GM is currently running), in which 4 cylinders shut-off for highway cruising, and all eight are activated when the throttle is pressed. Many performance enthusiasts cringe at the sound of stricter emissions for Mustangs, because that generally means less power. It is being speculated that if Ford does go ahead with this program, the Mustang will still get its slight power increase, as well as better fuel mileage- but with a tune the gains from stock form would be great.

Check back soon, more info will be posted as it becomes available for the 2010 Ford Mustang, and any special edition Cobra, Shelby, or Boss expected.
